Tis the month of “love”. Jayden received a love letter from a little boy in her class today. Yesterday she found a heart from me in her lunch box. A friend sent pictures of a love letter her daughter had put in her work notebook. Another good friend received roses from someone she never dreamed would notice her. Love is definitely in the air.
Notes and gifts of love come from the heart and are cherished by those who receive them. But where did it all start? When did this idea of expressing and showing love begin? It began in Genesis.
From the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelations, God consistently shows and declares his love for us. In His Word, He tells us he loves us over and over again. In Jeremiah 31:3, He says He loves us with an everlasting love. Deuteronomy 23:5, declares that He turns the curses of this live into blessings because He loves us. Paul gives us the reassurance in Romans 8:35, that nothing is capable of separating us from His love. John 3:16 declares that God loves us enough to die for us. Not only does He offer us the gift of salvation and eternal life, He loves enough to make us His own. (1 John 3:1)
God not only loves us, He wants to love on us. He declares His love with each rising and setting of the sun. With each roll of the ocean waves, He whispers I love you. His love song can be heard through the multitude of singing birds which live all over the world. He winks at us with the sun and moon. He cradles us and embraces us with each gentle breeze.
There is no way we could ever love Him as much as He loves us…..
but we could try!
